My journey
I’ve never wanted to choose between building a business and building a life.
I’m Monica Allen—entrepreneur, strategist, podcast host, wife, mother, and lifelong believer in taking the leap with intention.
Where it began
My story started in a small Georgia town—not in a corner office.
I grew up below the poverty line and faced challenges that could have defined my future. Instead, they strengthened my determination to break the cycle and build a different life.
I became the first person in my immediate family to attend a four-year university. My college experiences sparked the idea that would eventually become stuff4GREEKS—but the business did not begin the moment I graduated.
I spent eight years in Corporate America as an insurance benefits broker. During those years, I earned my MBA and built stuff4GREEKS as a side hustle. I know what it means to work a full-time job, serve customers after hours, and keep believing in a vision before it can support you full-time.
In 2005, I left Corporate America and stepped fully into entrepreneurship. The journey has taught me that success is rarely a straight line. It is built through relationships, resilience, systems, hard decisions, and the courage to keep moving.
What I’m building now
Business is one way I create opportunity, connection, and legacy.
Today, I am a serial entrepreneur with ventures that include Zeus’ Closet, stuff4GREEKS, Deuce Equity Group—a commercial real estate holding company—and GreekHub, a community connecting fraternity and sorority business owners.
Through the Become Your Own Boss podcast, I support aspiring entrepreneurs, serious side hustlers, and early-stage business owners with practical ideas, encouragement, and honest conversations about launching, growing, and leading well.
Community service is also part of my story. I served for 11 years as a founding board member of Westside Atlanta Charter School, which was named the 2024 Charter School of the Year.
The life around the work
Family is not separate from what I build. It is part of why I build.
My husband and business partner, Ethan King, and I have been married since 2003. We are raising our two children, Imana and Legend, right here in Atlanta.
I believe the goal is not simply to grow a business. It is to build a life with room for the people, purpose, health, faith, and experiences that matter most. That belief shapes how I lead, what I teach, and the communities I create.
What I believe
We can be ambitious without losing ourselves.
Clarity over confusion. The next right step matters more than a perfect ten-year plan.
Systems over chaos. Your business should create opportunity—not depend on you doing everything forever.
Relationships over transactions. Community and connection make the journey richer and the impact greater.
A full life is the real goal. Revenue matters, but so do legacy, flexibility, wellness, and time.
Let’s keep growing
